What we do
.. we're a transdisciplinary practice, connecting people to
place across varying scales and modes of practice!

Philosophy

Our design philosophy is rooted in the making process of the uyando, the traditional granaries of north-central Namibia. The oka'yando (singular) is not designed in the conventional sense. It is made: shaped incrementally through direct engagement with material, climate, and use, guided by inherited technical knowledge and refined through repetition across generations. There is no separation between the maker, the material, and the purpose. The process is the intelligence.
This is the basis of our approach. We design through sustained engagement with context: the people who will occupy a building, the place in which it sits, the materials available, and the uses it must support. Form is not the starting point. It is the outcome of a rigorous process of investigation, testing, and resolution. Our practice is therefore committed to process-led design, contextual intelligence, and social responsibility. We do not impose form. We develop it, carefully, from the ground up
